This Swan Lake oil painting took a good year or 2, with some time outs throughout the process. Of course inspired by its namesake and the beautiful story about a prince Siegfried, who falls in love with a princess Odette who is cursed to become a swan by day, by the evil sorcerer Rothbart. The spell can only be broken by true love. Rothbart tricks the prince into swearing his love to Odile, a woman disguised as Odette.

Odette then jumps into the lake to take her own life, followed by Siegfried, ultimately breaking the curse allowing their spirits to be together forever. I love watching Swan Lake ballet every Christmas.
