Minimalist Selection
Sometimes, the most powerful statements are the simplest. Following the intense, busy detail of my Millennium Mythos Trilogy around 2002, I felt a strong artistic pull toward minimalism. This collection represents that breath of fresh air, stripping away crowded canvases to focus on clean lines, bold colours, and quiet stillness. The journey begins at the very edges of the mythos itself, featuring the stark yellow pyramids that serve as ancient, protective guardians of that universe. From there, the collection transitions into the real world, capturing profound moments through a minimalist lens. Whether it is finding gentle serenity in ‘The Calm Sea,’ or reflecting on a heavy, global historical event through the quiet geometry of ‘Twin Towers,’ this selection explores the striking, emotional beauty of less being more. The gallery takes a cheeky, satirical turn with ‘Sh Art’. Painted in 2007, this three-piece work (which originally had a fourth!) is a witty, minimalist nod to the madness of the high-end art market, and the classic gallery brush-off: “we like it, but you need a collection!” The Collection finishes with the minimalistic oil painting ‘Blue Sky’ from my 2020 artworks.
