A World on Pause: The Solitary Silence of 2020

The year 2020 brought a sudden, profound hush over the world. Crowds disappeared, plans evaporated, and we were all left sitting in a strange, surreal stillness.

Spot the artist! Sitting quietly by the tree, this piece features a surreal, figure self-portrait, a rare cameo on canvas echoing my earlier Millennium Mythos era.

My ‘2020 Vision’ collection was born directly from this quiet isolation. At the center of this collection is a sprawling four-piece panoramic landscape. In it, a solitary girl sits against a lone tree, surrounded by empty roads, shifting energies, and tiny, ghostly reminders of the world we left behind. 

But within that profound aloneness, there was also a strange and contemplative beauty. With the bustling noise of society paused, we found peace in empty blue skies, untouched sands, and the quiet resilience of nature. Whether it is the solitary song of a frog chorus or the quiet dance of garden roses, these pieces explore what happens when the world stands completely still.
