The Covid Year

The Solitary Silence of 2020

The year 2020 brought a sudden, profound hush over the world. This collection captures the quiet, surreal isolation of the lockdown experience. At its center is a sprawling four-piece panoramic, a vast, still landscape where a solitary girl sits against a lone tree, surrounded by shifting energies, empty roads, and silent horizons.

That same sense of profound aloneness echoes through the other works born from this time. Whether it is the untouched sands of a yellow beach, the endless expanse of an empty blue sky, a solitary frog chorus, or the quiet dance of garden roses, these pieces explore the strange, contemplative and reflective beauty of a world standing completely still.

2020 Vision’ Oil on canvas. 2020. 4 Piece Panoramic.

Look closely at the edges of this surreal, solitary landscape. On the far left linger two tiny, unfinished figures, the only other souls in an empty world. On the far right near an inverted nod to my `Blue Bridges’, is a floating scroll reading ”4 as far as the eye can see.”

A World on Pause

When the crowds disappeared, a strange and contemplative beauty remained. Finding peace in empty skies, untouched sands, and the quiet resilience of nature.
