2019 & Before The Lockdowns
When We Went “Out Out”
This collection is a vibrant time capsule of the trendy, unfiltered social life we took for granted before the world suddenly stopped in the 2020 Covid lockdowns. It is all about the unmistakable electricity of the pubs, the crowded clubs, and the pure craziness and excitement of getting ready to go “out out.” Watching my own three teenagers have their entire social lives instantly rearranged during the lockdowns made this contrast even more profound.
These pieces, painted in 2019 & a few years before, from the bold, party-ready energy of my ‘Booty Girls’ series featuring sparkling club wear, to the quiet anticipation of grabbing your clutch and favourite red lipstick for the night, capture the pulse of youth and young adulthood in its prime. They are a colourful, unapologetic tribute to the loud, carefree nights and the buzzing social vibe we had to leave behind in an instant, back then.
