2019 & Before The Lockdowns
When We Went “Out Out”: Remembering the Buzz of 2019
White’ Oil on canvas, 2019
From The Booty Girls Suite
Looking back at 2019, it feels like looking into a completely different lifetime. It was a time of unfiltered social lives, crowded dancefloors, and the pure, electric anticipation of getting ready to go “out out”.
My ‘2019 & Before The Lockdowns’ collection is a vibrant time capsule of that era. Watching my own teenagers have their social lives instantly rearranged during the lockdowns made the contrast of these pre-Covid years even more profound for me.
When you look at pieces from my ‘Booty Girls’ series or paintings capturing the ritual of grabbing your favourite red lipstick and clutch bag, you can almost hear the music thumping. But it wasn’t just the wild nights we missed; it was the bustling parks, the casual crowds, and the simple, overlooked beauty of physical connection.
These paintings are a colourful, unapologetic tribute to the loud, carefree nights and the buzzing social vibe we had to leave behind in an instant.
